Lady Cats hold off Tigers

The Lady Cats softball team strutted their stuff in what coaches are referring to as a “back and forth affair” against the Mark Twain Lady Tigers Thursday evening. Bowling Green’s girls came out on top with a 6-5 final score.

Lady Cat Madison Ingram was named the game’s winning pitcher with eight strike-outs, six hits, four earned runs.

Josie Williamson went 2-3, made one double, got one SB, and earned an RBI.

Ingram also went 2-3, got a double, and an RBI.

Jessica Schindler went 2-3, as well and also made a double.

After the first inning, the Bowling Green girls fought back from being down by one run to put two on the board. They continued to get three more after the second.

Following the second inning, the Lady Cats held a strong lead at 5-1 and stalemated until the sixth. At that time Mark Twain took advantage of some throwing miscues and banded together to score four to tie the game at 5-5.

After shutting the Lady Tigers down in the seventh, the girls in red and black got baserunners. They took advantage of the situation, with a delay steal from Harli Lindsay to take third. This move set the junior up to score on a wild pitch in the seventh to win the game.
