Albert Shaw

 

Mr. Albert Allen Shaw, 67, of Elsberry, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 at the St. Joseph Hospital West in Lake St. Louis. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana.

The Rev. Don Amelung, assisted by the Rev. Randall Cone, will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana.

He was born May 17, 1946 in Hardin, Ill., the son of Henry and Mary Elizabeth Hunter Shaw.

He married Mary Frances Strobl in 1967 in Elsberry and she survives. To this union was born one daughter, Shellie Shaw Collier, of the state of Maryland who survives along with her children, Amber and Joey.

He later married Mary Ann Leo at Fort Sill, Okla. and she preceded him in death. He is also survived by two sons, Shawn Shaw of Granite City, Ill.; and Robert Shaw of Wright City; a step-daughter, Carrie Strobl; daughter, Cierra of Fort Sill, Okla.; one sister, Dora R. Sapp of Louisiana; one brother, John R. Surgeon and wife,Barbara of Louisiana; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, H. Jean Shaw in 1994 and Marybelle Seehausen in 2000; nephew, Kenneth L. Sapp in 1992 and a brother in-law, Errett “Bud” Sapp who passed away in 2000.

He graduated from the Elsberry high school in in 1964. He was a veteran joining the United States Army after graduation from High School and retired from the Army after over 20 years of service.

Albert later worked for Wal-Mart at Troy, for 10 years, retiring in 2012 due to ill health.

Albert loved family reunions, old country music, fishing, bowling and any games played with family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers are Kaleb Rosenstengl,  Danny Elliott, Gary McChristian, Josh Sapp and A. J. Cullum.

Active pallbearers are, Robert Sapp, Eugene Stanger, Myles Neff, Buddy Sapp, Randy Malcom and Melvin Stanger.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or to the donor’s choice in care of Collier Funeral Homes, Inc., 117 Barnard Dr., Louisiana, Mo. 63353.
