Saturday, Sept. 21, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Pike County Fairgrounds
Mike Reynolds, Master of Ceremonies will welcome one and all to Relay for Life – “Haunting for a Cure” – please plan to be there!
Opening Ceremony will include a message from Ginger Hodson from the American Cancer Society – Where does the Fund Raising Money Go? It is a question asked often and the information is available on the American Cancer Society website, as well: www.cancer.org
Bree Walker, Alece Walker, and Callie Watson, three lovely young ladies, will sing. If you have not heard them sing prior to this, you are in for a treat.
The trick is to get everyone in the community to come out to participate in the activities. A full schedule will be posted in the papers the week of Relay. Here is a sample of activities available:
Side of Country Band, Richard Biggs, Donna Grote Biggs and Joey Sminchak will provide music; Face Painting by Sheri Lewis Grote; Survivor Photographs by Amanda Wilson; Boy Scout Troop 177 / Color Guard and available for various tasks throughout the event; Haunted House provided by Tom Thompson; Howard Street Dance Studio; FFA Horse Show; plus much more.
Food will be served 1:30 p.m. to midnight by First Presbyterian Church.
Opening Ceremony at 6 p.m. with Survivors Walk to follow.
Luminaria Lighting at 7 p.m. (on sale from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.).
Fight Back Ceremony at 9 p.m.
Closing Ceremony starts at 12:45 a.m.
Don’t forget – Daffron’s Relay for Life Team will sponsor a 5K Walk/Run on Sept. 21.
Registration: 8 a.m.; race time: 9 a.m.; where: Fairgrounds “Main Gate”; entry fee: $20 before Sept. 14 or $25 through Race Day.
