Another Amazing Start at Frankford Elementary
By Stephanie Bailey, Principal
We are off to a wonderful beginning to the 2013-2014 school year! This year we welcomed two new classroom teachers.
Julie Niemeyer is our first grade teacher and Heather Spegal is our fourth grade teacher. Heather Jones, formerly first grade, is now our Title I Communication Arts teacher and Barb Lemons, formerly fourth grade, is the librarian for both elementary schools. Annice Allensworth is filling in this semester as our special education aide. We also welcome Jamie Baker as our school nurse.
We had a great turn out for our Meet the Teacher night in August with Parent Club serving ice cream sandwiches and signing up parent volunteers.
Our Parent Club is having their first meeting this week to plan events for the coming year. We encourage all parents to become a part of this great group who truly help both our students and staff throughout the school year.
Despite the heat, we held our annual Character Camp on Aug. 30. Students traveled to six stations to complete activities that help them remember character traits on a daily basis.
The staff nominates students during the school year when they display their good character. These students are recognized at the Monday Morning Assembly and receive a Breakfast of Champions invitation for their families.
Our teachers received Data Team Training this summer. Students and teachers will be keeping Data Notebooks in order to show individual growth in both reading and math. Parents will be invited to look at this progress on a regular basis this year. We are continuing to receive Data Team Training during our in-service days during the school year.
