XC improves at Quincy Classic

The Bowling Green High School Bobcats and Lady Cats cross country teams made strides at the Quincy Notre Dame Classic meet last Tuesday. The varsity girls finished in fifth place, with the varsity boys coming in close behind in ninth.

A variety of teams were at the meet last week, making stiff competition for the BGHS runners. In all, 25 schools from Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri were in attendance.

“We made significant improvements from the Mexico Invite.  This is one of the most competitive meets that we participate in. We are still learning how to race 5k and we are trying to gain confidence that we can push harder through the first mile of the race,” said head coach Matt Chance. “I like where this team is after 5 weeks of training.  We will continue to get better over the next several weeks.”
