He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:5
Isn’t that the truth, God makes all things new. The seasons, the crops and the flowers; those all change and become new. He even makes us each new and transforms it when we least expect it and even in those times we don’t want to be changed. But change happens and it’s how you deal with change that matters. You can deal with change by griping and complaining and heaving heavy sighs and moaning, “Woe is me. Oh poor poor me.” Or you can glorify God and say, “I will use this change for your glory, I will embrace it and make it a life learning experience.”
I am a stroke survivor of a few short months. Two strokes in less than a week both in the brain stem and over 29 days in hospitals and rehab, I am still recovering and will be for a long time. I can choose to be a victim or a survivor. I can choose to bemoan and rant at God or I can choose to use this for his glory and grace. Use it to celebrate His love and the miracles, he bestows upon me. He is making me new; I will never be who I once was. I pray that I will be better.
I am learning how to walk and even how to fall, semi-gracefully. I am learning how to use my hand and arm-it doesn’t always do as it’s told. I have to learn how to redress myself and no offense to the male readers, but putting on a bra is an Olympic event. And we won’t even discuss doing buttons on pants. I am very thankful for whoever God had invent elastic waist pants and skirts. I have packed away three bins of high heels and not can only wear flat shoes with laces. This has been so traumatic for the girly girl in me.
I have found a new sense of humor in my life, I have found a burning desire to share God so that not one person does not know his love and the sacrifice of giving His Son, Jesus Christ to live, die and resurrect. I know God had and has purpose for me. He makes all things new. He makes us new.
We have a choice, my friends. We can become new in Christ or we can stagnate. In today’s world where Christianity is often times the minority and seem to be losing its rights in the world, we must not adapt but make our presence known. We need to become new, we need to be on fire, we need to take advantage of our second chances and share Christ. I am going to do that, will you? If not you will stay stagnate, you become stale and you are not making anything New. Make your faith and the desire to share the Good News the thing that is New.
