Lady Cats take Comm R-6 in no-hitter

Thursday was a day for the record books as BGHS sophomore and pitching all star Madison Ingram threw a no-hitter in the Lady Cats’ 15-0 victory over Community R-6.

“The girls came out and executed on all cylinders,” boasted head coach Dean Streed. “My point of emphasis was for the girls to get better day in and day out, and not play down to competition.”

No Community R-6 batter was able to locate Ingram’s pitches during the game. Stats indicate the young player threw a no-hitter, striking out six batters and walking none while recording what coaching staff can refer to as a momentous feat.

The biggest inning for Lady Cats was the third. Bowling Green’s bats caught fire, leading to nine runs for the Pike County girls.

Senior Paige Moore tallied up three RBIs on two hits for the Lady Cats. She singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.

“In order for us to make strides and continue to show growth we have to play ‘Bowling Green’ Softball each and every day and not worry about other teams,” Streed said following the game. “If we play to our potential, trust our team philosophy and simply rely on execution we will be ok and tonight the girls proved it.”
