Friday began as any normal day at True Manufacturing (True). By mid-morning, fear was running rampant as a detected bomb threat was reported to local authorities.
Pike County Sheriff Stephen Korte reported that the call of a bomb threat in the facility, located off Highway 54 just west of Bowling Green, came in at approximately 10:15 a.m.
True management contacted the Sheriff’s Office because of a “note that was found written on a male bathroom stall simply stating ‘bomb in building’.”
Officers from the Bowling Green Police, Fire and Pike county Sheriff’s Office immediately responded to the business.
The building was promptly evacuated of all True personnel. Korte said the Missouri Highway Patrol responded to assist.
Soon after their arrival, officers reported that explosives detection dogs from the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, O’Fallon Police Department, St. Louis Airport Police, and Air Force Security Force Officers from Scott Air Force Base began a search of vehicles in the facility’s parking lot.
Korte reported that the search of the vehicles, followed by the 400,000 square foot building, did not reveal any explosives.
