Alumni Association hosts banquet – Guests honor Veterans
The Bowling Green High School Alumni Association entertained a crowd of nearly 250 Saturday evening for the 29th annual Alumni Banquet. This year’s banquet was held in honor of the school’s veterans; namely the late Sergeant Louis A. Niemeyer Jr. and Second Lieutenant David S. Deters.
At 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 12, alumni and guests gathered in the James A. Wilson gymnasium at the Bowling Green Middle School for the annual banquet. Visitors were greeted by Ryan Bibb, class of ‘98.
A “Hello and Welcome” from Frankford principal and BGHS class of ‘87 Stephanie Gamm Bailey began the evening.
Following the National Anthem by Carolyn Strother Shaw (class of ‘76) and an Invocation by Kathy Parcell Gamm (class of ‘73), the guests were invited to begin dinner, which was catered by Karen Leverenz Kieffer, class of ‘78.
Following Shaw’s performance of the School Song, Bibb introduced the head table.
In the business meeting, reports were heard from Lisa Vogel Scherder (class of ‘83 and Bess Gamm (class) of ‘53). Talley Shaon Saucier (class of ‘63) spoke in recognition of all veterans. Richard Biggs (class of ‘83) performed “God Bless America.”
