Your Scope – Facebook Finds

We asked, and you commented. Last week, the Bowling Green Times asked its Facebook followers what they think about the rights given to stars of “reality TV”. Here are some of your answers…

Question:

“House Speaker John Boehner told Republican lawmakers today of his plans to give the President a proposal which would extend the government’s ability to borrow money (raise the ‘debt ceiling’) through Nov. 22 — but only if he agrees to negotiate over ending the partial government shutdown and a longer-term increase in the debt ceiling.

What do you think, Pike County? Is this a solution to the shutdown? Is ending furloughs and stopping the shutdown worth raising the US’s already-high debt? Is this the solution you would recommend?”

Your Answers*:

“I really have a problem with nobody willing to work across party lines for the betterment of our country! these *jacklegs* have know for months there was going to be a fight and did nothing but sit on the rumps and ignore it! Maybe “we the people “ need a few less millionaires in office and a lot more common folks. Also they caused this mess why are they still getting paid? … Also why are illegal immagrants allowed to march on a fedaral park but not veterans?” – Jimmy Dameron

“They all need to be fired! And let real hardworking american people take their places, & we would see the changes that needs to happen!” – Kevin Wayne Hill

“The impasse in Congress that has resulted in the partial shutdown of the government is the result of Congress responding to their constituents. Those who are voting to defund the health care law are voting in a way that represents the people who voted for them . Those who insist on funding Obamacare are voting in a way that represents the constituents who voted for them. The last presidential election was a fairly even split between those two points of view. Consequently, there does not seem to be an easy solution. The payers vote one way and the takers vote another. One thing is certain; the cost of healthcare will continue to skyrocket and the only people who will get it for free are those who expect someone else to pay for it.” – Clay Boley

“i think something should be done about career welfare recipiants. get social security off the list. social security shouldnt even be an option. thats the working mans future.” – Beverly Kirk Reynolds
