FFA, FBLA clubs honor classmate with mums – Students “Pull a Hammi”
Bowling Green High School students have suffered more loss in the last year or two than many people do over the course of decades. After the loss of classmate Hannah Buchanan, the “Pull a Hammi” movement began. With the simple “do good deeds” and “pay it forward” mantras, the movement has caught on like wildfire. BGHS clubs FFA and FBLA were far from immune to the idea.
Thursday afternoon, several members of these clubs gathered outside the BGHS green house to put their good deed into action. The boys and girls selected several mum plants to deliver around town, in hopes of brightening the day of each recipient.
“Hannah was a member of FBLA, so the students and advisors decided we were going to complete 100 acts of kindness in her memory,” said FBLA sponsor Kim Luebrecht. “The mums were just something we came up with and the FFA guys wanted to donate the mums and help too. The kids were very excited to participate…”
Each mum was tagged twice, one crediting the FFA and the other the FBLA; each tag commemorates their fallen classmate and encourages whoever received the gift to “Pull a Hammi” in memory of Hannah.
With many more “acts of kindness” to go, don’t be surprised when a troop of FBLA students bring you homemade cookies or offer to rake your lawn.
With a little guideance from club sponsors Kim Luebrecht (FBLA) and Jason Davis (FFA), the students did their part to “Pull a Hammi” last week.
