The varsity team participated in the Troy Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 5.
“We started pool play against Rockbridge,” said coach Erin VanDyke.
Their first game was rough, returning a BG loss of 25-5.
“We fought harder in the second, losing 15-25,” VanDyke said.
The Lady Cats only had three kills for that game: two from Ella Klott and one from Kirsten White.
Next the girls played Troy, presenting another loss at 25-14 for each game.
“Our last pool play game was against St. Charles High, which was one of our better games,” VanDyke added. “We lost 17-25 and 14-25. Though we only had two kills, our defense was fairly quick and we were able to rally with them.”
The team played St. Charles West in tournament play. They were also 0-3 in their pool.
“We lost 15-25 and 5-25,” the coach said. “We had five kills in this game, two from Tori Nichols, and one each from Alyssa Sloan, Evan Scherder and Ella Klott.”
For the day, the Lady Cats had only 13 kills with 34 attack errors. They also had eight blocks, only one of which was for a point.
“Increasing our speed at the net is something we have been working on all season, and will continue to try and improve,” concluded VanDyke.
