Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Director Derick Beanland was recently featured in the Fall 2013 issue of the Missouri Park and Recreation Association (MPRA) magazine.
The MPRA is a professional organization which represents the interests of park and recreational professionals and member cities and counties throughout the state of Missouri.
Beanland was hired in August of this year and is Bowling Green’s first parks and recreation professional. He is a University of Central Missouri graduate and holds a BS in Exercise Science. Before his move to Pike County, Beanland had an internship with the Los Angeles Dodgers as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and, most recently, served as a Recreational Specialist/Supervisor with the Missouri Department of Corrections.
This fall, the City will begin its recreational programming aspect based upon the results of the recently completed Recreational Activity Interest Survey. In addition to recreational programming, Beanland is also responsible for park maintenance, as well as operations of his department.
