Isaac Bryson

Isaac Newton Bryson “Newt” passed away Oct. 10, 2013 in Dallas, Texas.

Isaac was born Feb. 11, 1929 in Louisiana. He was a graduate of University of Missouri with a bachelor’s in history and journalism.

Newt was a member of Kappa Alpha Mu and served in the Air Force as a first lieutenant from 1954-56. He was editor of Eastern Indiana Publishing from 1957-58 and was owner/publisher of Wood County Democrat in Quitman, Texas. from 1959-74. The Bryson family also has a long history of owning the Louisiana Press-Journal.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly. He is survived by their two sons, Newton Bohan and Peter Lynn; one granddaughter, McKenzie St. Regis; wife of 34 years, Mary; three step-children, Colleen, Burl Jr. and Cheryl; two-step granddaughters and one step-great grandson.

Newt met Mary in square dancing in 1979. He continued in square dancing as president of Stone Steppers SQ and RD many times and Rambling Rounders Up until his death.

He is loved by many friends in square dancing. Newt and Mary enjoyed many countries that they were able to see in their travels and on cruises.

The family received friends on Oct. 14 at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home  interment followed in Grove Hill Cemetery
