Friday afternoon the BGHS cross country team headed south for the State meet, which was held Saturday morning in Jefferson City. The competing Bobcat and Lady Cat runners must have been in a good frame of mind, as the teams named two runners All-State.
This meet was held as the Lady Cat’s sixth-straight State meet.
Boys Individual Results
Phillip Lagemann, 5th, 16:55 (All State)
“Philip ran his best race of the season,” said head coach Matt Chance. “He has learned alot throughout the season on how to run different races. He stayed within striking distance throughout the entire race and the last 200 meters he outkicked several runners to place fifth.”
This is the second straight year Lagemann has been All-State.
Girls Individual Results
Kylie Conrow, 22nd, 20:53 (All-State)
Lauren Sparks, 32nd, 21:32
Erin Martin, 74th, 22:41
Amber Berg, 100th, 23:28
Sierra St. Aubyn, 124th, 24:30
Teagan Teasley, 132nd, 24:48
Michaela Knight, 138th, 24:56
“This was a great season for the girls team,” Chance said. “These girls have been training since the middle of June and the improvement we saw over the course of the season was great. The effort was there from everyone and that’s all you can ask for. There are several pieces of this team coming back next year and we should be in a great position to return the team to state next year.”
Most of all, the coaches boasted on the talent of one runner in particular.
“Kylie [Conrow] will go down as one of the top cross country runners ever to come through the BGHS cross country program,” the head coach added. “She is one of three runners in the BG cross country program to earn all state twice.”
