Chamber slates Christmas, concert
The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce held their regular meeting last Wednesday, Nov. 13 at noon. The group finalized several event plans, including an upcoming contest, lighting ceremony, and concert.
Chamber president Chad Perkins called the meeting to order at 12:07 p.m., with many board and regular members in attendance.
City Administrator Dan Lang gave the update of goings-on with the city, including the new parks and recreation news on the city website. Lang also mentioned there will be several programs coming up, not limited to a fitness class and game night. He added that Derick Beanland, Bowling Green’s parks and recreation director, is still looking for instructors for a few of their programs. The City will be refining and updating some zoning codes in the near future. Lang concluded, offering the assistance of individuals completing community service to the Chamber.
Bo Stinnett offered a building update, saying lights and new decorations should be installed this week.
Jack Jones gave a budget and finance update, saying there is $6,356.31 in the general fund, $16,055.93 in the event fund, $1,007.50 in the scholarship fund, and $2,015 in the flag fund. Jones mentioned the event fund will be adjusted to hold a $6,000 balance and that any current overages will be distributed to the other accounts.
