Amy Patterson – My Thoughts
The term “politically correct has really come to wear me out. It seems you can’t talk about what you had for lunch without offending someone or landing yourself in a lawsuit.
Did you know the term wasn’t coined until the late 20th century? The Mom pointed out to me this weekend that this shows just how bad things were before this time.
Yes, slavery and racism are wrong. Yes, judging your fellow man is wrong. Yes, hate crimes are bad. And yes, before this term was introduced, a lot of people were severely lacking cuthe.
Regardless, can’t we all lighten up a little bit? Can’t we all take the “rude comments” with a grain of salt, and learn to laugh at ourselves? Not everything everyperson says is directed at you. Brush it off.
As I’ve said before, I love my neighbor and treat everyone the same, regardless of their color, sexual preference (definitely not getting into that here), age, or political stance. However, it wears me out to see the “minorities” of each of these categories play off like they have it worse than anyone else.
“Bad” is not relative! Bad is bad; your’s is not worse than someone else’s. You don’t need to jump on the defense every time someone hurts your feelings.
