The Northeast Zone of the Lutheran Woman’s Missionary League held their Fall Rally Oct. 26 at St. John Lutheran Church in Vandalia. There were 44 members in attendance. Mary Myers, Zone President, called the meeting to order.

Carol Fischer welcomed the women to St. John. Pastor Keith Clow lead the opening devotions based on Ephesians 2:8-10 stressing the work Jesus did to redeem us and reminding us that God has prepared good deeds for us to do in response to His saving us.

Linda Ruhl presented the minutes of the Spring Rally. Carolyn Schreiner gave the treasurer’s report. Following various committee reports, Myers presented highlights of the National LWML Convention held in June in Pittsburg, Pa.

After a delicious soup and sandwich lunch, Amy Vaughn, from the Kids in Motion program, spoke to the group about her work in the program. She emphasized that the purpose of the program started out being a work-oriented program, but now it is a service program and the youth are paid according to their attitude rather than by the work they do.

Vaughn told about the different projects they have undertaken in the summer with keeping the young people working and involved in their community. She brought three young ladies with her and asked them questions about how they got involved in the program, what it meant to them and what they hoped for in their future.

Following this presentation, Pastor David Johnson lead the group in a closing devotion in which he emphasized that God does not give us useless gift, but he gives us gifts we can use in his kingdom. Those attending from Bowling Green were Dorothy McCarthy and Debbie Curry.
