2013 was an eventful year across the board. The following are a few of the headlines that made their way into the Bowling Green Times throughout the first six months of the year.
Jan. 2: Murder suspect arrested in Clarksville: “Terry Thompson, 45, of Marshall, was arrested Thursday night in Clarksville for charges involving the murder of 32-year-old Rebecca Fisher, also of Marshall.
According to reports by Sergeant Roger Gibson, of the Marshall Police Department, Thompson now faces charges including first degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action.”
Jan. 16: Frankford native sworn into state legislature: “State Representative, Frankford native, Jim Hansen, officially began his service as a state legislator after being sworn in during a ceremony Wednesday, Jan. 9 in the State Capitol. Hansen joined 160 other state representatives who were administered the oath of office during opening day proceedings in the Missouri House of Representatives.
“It was a great honor and humbling experience to stand with all the other members both new and returning and take an oath to uphold the US and Missouri Constitutions, it was an experience I had been anticipating since winning my seat in November,” said Hansen. “I am looking forward to the upcoming session of the 97th General Assembly and serving the constituents of the 40th District.” ”
