First semester has been a very busy time for the BGHS choral music students. It all started on Sept. 7 with Northeast MO All-District choir auditions in Warrenton.

Three students were selected to the choirs.  Tyler Talkington and Gaby Farabee were selected to the Sr./Jr. Choir and Courtney Burbridge was honored in the Freshman/Soph. choir.

Their performance/rehearsal was on Nov. 2 at Moberly high school.  Both groups performances were excellent.

Another successful performance by the Concert Choir, Pride, Freshman/Mixed Chorus and Middle School Select Choir came early on Oct. 3.  A full house enjoyed all of the performances.

Van-Far high school was the next location; as the EMO Conference Choir was held there on Nov. 21.  Ron Atteberry from CMU was the guest clinician for the group.

Seventeen musicians from BGHS were selected to the ensemble.  They are: Gaby Farabee, Evan Scherder, Shiann Truelove, Ashlee Young, Miranda Schillings, Kayla Perkins, Tori Nichols, Skylar Durham, Patrick Houchings, Tyler Talkington, Trey Nichols, Adam Holt, Drew Jacyna, Zach Kiel, Cameron Shinn, Reese St. Clair, and RC Lawerence.

Dec. 12 was the BGHS Music Department’s Christmas program.

The evening started with the Concert Band playing several Christmas selections.

Following the band the members of BGHS Pride danced and sang three favorites of the Christmas season.

The Freshman/ Mixed Chorus kept the festive night going singing three more popular songs. The evening concluded with the BGHS Concert Choir bringing the night to a great closing.

The choirs are directed by Dennis Cox, Pride is choreographed by Lori Cox, and all the groups are accompanied by Marcia Tepen.

Next up for the students is District Music contest the first of March.

Everyone at the Middle School and High School Music department would like to give a special thanks to the music boosters for everything they do for the students, music department and the school district.
