BGFD receives USDA funding – $65k loan covers 2013 fire truck purchase

The state USDA office announced last week that funding had been approved for the Bowling Green Municipal Assistance Corporation.

A formal presentation of the funding certificate was held at the BGFD office the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Rural Development passed a Community Facility Direct Loan of $65,000; funds that were used to cover the purchase an upgraded fire truck and equipment, replacing an older truck that was no longer in working order.

“Across Missouri, rural fire departments struggle with purchasing and maintaining equipment necessary for the protection of life and property. Rural Development is well aware of the obstacles
faced by these departments,” USDA Rural Development State Director Janie Dunning said. “We are proud to partner with the Bowling Green Municipal Assistance Corporation to assure the fire department has access to the apparatus they need to protect the city’s residents and visitors. Preventing the loss of life or property by fire is what the City of Bowling Green is striving to accomplish with this equipment purchase.”
