Hammi Foundation pays-it-forward

The “Peace, Love, Pull A Hammi Movement” is a non-for-profit organization,  which was founded in September 2013 to honor a local girl’s mission of “spreading God’s love to all, one act of kindness at a time.” Since its inception, the mission has become much larger than its founders could have imagined; far beyond their initial plans.

The Hammi Foundation has dedicated all of the funds it has raised over the last several months to benefiting the less fortunate in the area. These gifts have sent a young man to Haiti, adopted a needy family for Christmas, and given gifts to those who wouldn’t have had the opportunity to experience them otherwise.

“Mike and I would like to thank our community for all their support and financial donations to the Hammi Fund and explain what we have done thus far,” said co-founder Heather Buchanan. “We feel so blessed to be able to have this opportunity to help others because of the generosity of others.”

First, the group was able to give $400 to a Haiti mission team for luggage, as they travel with many supplies to aid the families there.

The foundation also had the chance to help send Joshua Buchanan, Mike and Heather’s 21-year-old son, on a Haiti mission trip.

“He went in honor of Hannah, who had planned to go on this trip,” Heather noted.

Joshua said of the trip, “It was so amazing and sad too. We just don’t realize how fortunate we are in America.”
