City expands recreation

The City of Bowling Green recently announced their expansion of the recreational opportunities for the
community.

Results of the recent Recreational Interest Survey indicated a strong interest
in archery. However, City regulations do not allow the use of bows or crossbows within the City limits. There was also a prohibition against their use at the Bowling Green Conservation Area (Lake Properties).

At its meeting in Jan. 27, the City of Bowling Green Board of Aldermen approved an
Ordinance allowing restricted use of bows and crossbows specifically at the Bowling
Green Conservation Area. The bows and crossbows can only be used in designated
locations and where there is instruction provided through the City of Bowling Green.

While the Ordinance does not allow the general use of bows and crossbows, it does  provide a future opportunity for their use type.

The City is exploring the possibility of offering an archery training class beginning in the
spring.
