Shirley M. Scott
Shirley M. Scott, age 76, of Bowling Green, was called home to be with our heavenly Father Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014 at Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green, with Rev. Marvin Davis officiating. Burial will be at Ashley Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 25, 1937 in Clarksville, the daughter of Elmer and Annie Mae Jackson. On Dec. 22, 2000 in Bowling Green, she married Guy Lynn Scott. He survives. Also surviving are son Robert Lee McPike and companion Joyce Ann McPike of Bowling Green; daughters Connie McPike Jackson and companion Maurice Cole of St. Louis, Etta McPike of Bowling Green; eight grandchildren Dewitt McPike, Ashley McPike, Josh McPike, Constance McPike, DeAndre McPike, Stacia McPike, DeLondo Stallings, Tirica Burton; 14 great grandchildren; brother Lenny Jackson of Springfield, Ill.; very special cousin Barbara Sydnor, several aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Tony McPike, and daughter Suzanne Jackson.
Mrs. Scott lived in Bowling Green most all of her life. She had been employed as a CNA at Sunset Nursing Home and Country View Nursing Facility. She also had worked as a presser at Kamp Todd Garment Factory in Clarksville, and was a cook at Pike County Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Scott loved cooking, going to church, watching Young and Restless, Family Feud, and Meet the Browns, playing cards every Friday with her friends, going to yard sales with her daughters Etta and Connie, and visiting family and friends, especially Barbara Sydnor. At the early age of 10 years old, she was baptized in the Mississippi River. She was a member of White Rose Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was the president of Mother’s Board.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Clark, Gary Bell, Jerome McPike, Donnie Chatman, Junior Allison, and Leslie Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be Marcus Richardson, Albert Lawson, and Larry Henricks.
