Mr. Roland Penn, 92, of Paynesville passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at Maple Grove Lodge Nursing Home in Louisiana.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Smith Chapel Methodist Church near Elsberry. The Rev. Terry Cook will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 at the church. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery near Elsberry.
Roland was born Aug. 12, 1921 in Pettigrew, Ark., the son of Sam Penn and Sythan Weatherby Penn.
He married Eva Irene Dempsey Cunningham and she preceded him in death.
He is survived by one son, Roland Eugene Penn (Betty) of Ballwin, Mo.; a step-son, Bill Cunningham of Bowling Green; one sister, Bessie Skirvin of Eolia; three grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jake Penn; and three sisters, Ruth Ingraham, Frances Taylor and Mary Sullivan.
He had been employed at the Cheonda Farms owned by the Harris Guyton family of Paynesville, for close to 50 years before retiring. During the depression he had worked in the CCC Camps.
He had attended Smith Chapel Methodist Church near Elsberry.
Pallbearers will be; Roland Eugene Penn, Jim Penn, Jon Penn, Harris Guyton, Cecil Hupper, Jim Pitzer and Billy Hunter.
