Cliff and Joe Mahar, both of rural Frankford, have entered and placed in the Monsanto Corn and Soybeans Growers Contest the past two years.

This year they placed first in the AA non-irrigated class, with the DKC59-37 corn yielding 208.7882 bushel per acre.

They also placed first in the conventional tillage class with Asgrow 3730 GENRR2 soybeans, which yielded 48.2 bushel per acre.

They were presented awards for their accomplishments at the banquet held in Kansas City on Feb. 8.

Troy Winchell, Crop Consultant with Crop Production Services #713 in Bowling Green, has worked closely with the Mahars on soil fertility, foliar feeding, and plant health to help them achieve higher yields.

Winchell strongly encourages farmers to enter the contest.
