Larry F. Niemeyer
Larry F. Niemeyer, 65, of Perry, formerly of Bowling Green, lost his long, hard fought battle to cancer on Thursday, March 13, 2014.
Inurnment will be Saturday, March 22 at 10 a.m. at the St. Clement Catholic Cemetery in St. Clement. Immediately following the burial there will be a dinner for those in attendance. A Celebration of Life service will be at 1 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in St. Clement.
Larry was born April 19, 1948 in Louisiana to Harry and Viola Geujen Niemeyer. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971. He was a butcher at Don’s IGA in Bowling Green for more than 20 years. Larry also worked at the Missouri Department of Corrections in Bowling Green and Vandalia, from which he retired in 2009. He was able to pursue his dream and opened Big Larry’s Campground in Perry. He truly enjoyed running the campgrounds and making his campers feel like family. Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, and his family and friends.
Survivors include two brothers, Leroy Niemeyer, of Columbia and Ralph Niemeyer and wife, Markie, of Bowling Green; one son, Larry Niemeyer II, of Paris; daughter, Lisa Wise and husband, Mark, of Curryville; and his beloved granddaughter, Meridyth Wise. Other survivors include nephews, a niece, and great-nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Clement Catholic Church, St. Clement Catholic Cemetery, or St. Clement Catholic School.
