Developmental Disability Awareness Month – Ruth Jensen Village Residential Services
Ruth Jensen Village Residential Services, Inc. (RJV) provides residential services for 52 individuals with developmental disabilities, operating 15 homes in the Bowling Green Community.
RJV promotes a agency philosophy of helping individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve as high a quality of life as possible, become as independent as possible, grow and learn in the least restrictive environment possible, pursue to the fullest extent, personal lifestyles and goals, and to participate, as fully as possible, in all decisions of their lives.
To achieve this philosophy, RJV employees support the importance of family involvement, recognition of each person’s individual potential, responsibility of RJV to help people reach that potential, and the right of all people to be treated with dignity and respect in all aspects of their lives.
RJV focuses on teaching individuals the skills they need to realize their goals and dreams and also places an emphasis on community involvement. We believe that the people we support are capable of being full contributing members of the community and we strive to ensure that everyone is given the opportunity to participate in community activities of their choice.
Individuals supported by RJV are active members in their churches, belong to various social organizations, work in competitive employment, and are generally involved in their community just as we all are.
RJV employs approximately 110 employees, making it one of the largest private entity employers in Pike County. Administrators strive to assure that each employee receives valuable training that enables them to provide the highest quality of service and care possible to each individual we support.
RJV is licensed by the Department of Mental Health through the Medicaid Waiver program, which provides the majority of our funding. We receive this certification through an on-site survey process every two years.
RJV is overseen by a five-member Board of Directors. Donna Burt is the current Executive Director and has help that position since moving to this area in 1989. Our administrative offices are located at 5 Industrial Drive, Bowling Green.
