The Bowling Green city pool may receive a face lift, under the direction of the city’s Park Board advisory committee.

The committee, which held their regular meeting Wednesday night, discussed several city parks issues, including the update and repair of the kiddie pool.

Board president Steve Chismarich called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m., the evening of Wednesday, April 23. Following roll call, the committee approved the previous meeting minutes.

For the Director’s report and update, Parks and Recreation director Derick Beanland gave updates on several projects and events.

Beanland noted that he signed up the board members for a parks and recreation association for networking and brainstorming purposes.

The director also said that YMCA has agreed to continue pool operations, with extended hours.

He added updates on several projects, including walking path fitness stations, updates at the reservoir, and ball field preparations.

After a brief discussion of the primitive camp sites at the reservoir, walking path lights, pool roof, and recent events, Beanland turned the conversation to that of the kiddie pool repairs.

The department head noted that the kiddie pool is in disrepair and needs to be replaced, adding his hopes of putting in a splash feature. Board members selected two features, an in-ground fountain and above-ground feature, for Beanland to receive construction and installation quotes on. Once he receives information from the contractor, the group will make their final decision.

With no additional discussion, the meeting adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
