Delay, back-and-forth game puts Bobcats over Elsberry

A rain delay, followed by a back-and-forth game between the Bobcats and visiting Elsberry Indians ultimately came to a close with Bowling Green on top, with a final score of 10-6.

The game began Thursday, only to be rained out in the second inning.

The teams regrouped Friday, allowing the Bobcats to earn their four-run victory after nine lead changes.

Bowling Green took the lead in the seventh inning and held on, earning six more runs. The Bobcats went up for good on a home run by David Goddard, scoring Ashton Oberman, Andrew Martinson, and Austin Noble.

Goddard racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Bobcats.

Darren Feldewerth got it done on the hill after taking over for Corey Brown in the fourth. Feldewerth allowed two runs over his three innings. The senior struck out one, walked two, and gave up three hits.

Brown threw four strikeouts, but allowed four runs.

The top of the first saw Elsberry take an early lead, 1-0.

The Bobcats got two-run rallies in the fourth and fifth innings. In the fourth, Bowling Green scored on an RBI single by Austin Noble, scoring Feldewerth.

Elsberry scored three runs in the fifth, putting them in the lead. The Bobcats answered with two runs of their own and another six in the final inning.
