Klott reins in 1200 horses – Local man tops tractor pull circuit
There are many people around Pike County who may consider Ben Klott an adrenaline junky.
It just takes someone seeing the young man wrestle his 1200 horsepower pulling tractor into submission once to understand where the label comes from.
Klott, a 2011 graduate of Bowling Green High School, began pulling with his father Mark Klott five years ago.
The Pike County farm boy explained he and his father used to spend a great deal of their time on the lake in their boat, but “got tired of looking at the lake.” Klott said he used to go to local pulls whenever they were around, and got inspired to “do something different.”
In this case, the differences are glaring.
The Klotts’ pulling season typically runs from mid-May through late summer, with a heavy run through June and July. While there are indoor pulls throughout the winter, Ben explains the maintenance required to prepare for the off-season indoor pulls is greater than the reward they reap.
The rest of Ben’s story can be found in the June 11 edition of the Times.
