Rebecca Larson, a second-year student at St. Louis College of Pharmacy from Bowling Green, claimed two all-conference medals for the St. Louis College of Pharmacy women’s track and field team.

At the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) track and field championships on April 26 in Berea, Ky., Larson led the Eutectics by scoring 20 points in the throwing events.

Her first All-Conference medal came from a second-place finish in the hammer throw, when she broke her previous school record with a toss of 29.87m.

She then claimed All-Conference honors in the discus throw (27.49m) and took fifth place in the shot put (8.38m).

With only eight athletes, the women’s track and field team tied with conference rival Brescia University for second place in its final appearance at the KIAC Championships.

The small, but mighty, STLCOP team scored 90 points and brought home eight all-conference medals. Beginning in 2014-15, St. Louis College of Pharmacy will move from the KIAC into the American Midwest Conference (AMC).

Larson currently holds the St. Louis College of Pharmacy record in four events: indoor shot put, indoor weight throw, outdoor hammer throw, and outdoor discus throw.

Larson, the daughter of Jon and Michelle Larson, is a 2012 graduate of Bowling Green High School where she was All-Conference in track and field as well as valedictorian.

In its 21st year of existence, the St. Louis College of Pharmacy athletic department is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and includes volleyball, basketball, cross country, track and field, tennis, softball, and soccer.

The College’s mascot – the Eutectic – is a common term in pharmacy describing the scientific process of two solids being combined to form a liquid. It is the perfect metaphor combining athletics and a demanding academic program.
