Trial setting this week for rape case

The local man accused of sexually assaulting a Bowling Green woman may know the date of his trial later this week.

A trial setting has been scheduled for this Friday, June 13 in the case of Timothy Lavel Wright, the 27-year-old Bowling Green resident facing charges of rape, sodomy, and burglary.

Wright allegedly entered a Bowling Green apartment and assaulted a woman the early of Feb. 15.

A probable cause statement states the victim told authorities that Wright threatened to kill her and her daughter multiple times during the encounter.

The statement also says the victim told officers that Wright was upset at her for not returning his affections after he told her previously of his crush on her.

Reports from local courts do not reflect a prior history of violence from Wright.

The defense also filed a motion for bond reduction Friday. Former requests have been denied. Wright is currently being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
