Posted on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 2:40 pm

Weather permitting, beginning Monday, Aug. 4 at 7 a.m., MO 161 in Montgomery County will be closed to traffic up to 45 working days just west of Route BB in Middletown for bridge rehabilitation at the Coon Creek Bridge.

Road closure signs will be in place notifying motorists of the work. Alternate routes of travel should be taken with a signed detour over MO 161, US 54 and MO 19. Bleigh Const. Co. was the successful bidder on this project at $206,957.65.

Replacing the deck on the 51-year-old bridge requires removal of the deck and side barriers all the way down to steel, then cleaning and replacing some of the steel, and pouring concrete for the new deck which will be 22 foot wide compared to the existing 20 foot deck.

With almost 35 bridge projects scheduled this year in northeast Missouri, MoDOT has created web pages that will provide updated information about these projects and subsequent road closures.

The web pages, found at www.modot.org/northeast under 2014 Bridge projects in Northeast Missouri at http://www.modot.org/4NEBridgeProjects.htm are easy to navigate and provide as many details about possible on the bridges that will be rehabilitated or replaced this year.

All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map. Those traveling and commuting public are encouraged to check the online map at http://www.modot.org/ daily for new work zones.

MoDOT also offers e-update messages sent directly to your email when roadwork is scheduled.
