The First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green hosted “Blast Off On A Mission Of God’s Love” Vacation Bible School space experience on July 27, 28, and 29.

The evenings began with a family meal, followed by children activities that included Bible stories about friends helping a friend see Jesus, Jesus feeding 5,000, and God’s creation and his love for us.

The children were visited by Reggie the Astronaut and his co-astronaut, Albert the monkey.

They learned songs, played games (including meteor showers), and made crafts out of this world.

On the final night, they made glow jars and learned they can let their light shine for God by being kind and serving others.

They completed a mission project by making bracelets and putting them in purses with needed items for women and young girls who stay in shelters.

The children also learned that “God loves us, so love each other!”

VBS was based on the Bible verse:  “Let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God.”  I John 4: 7.
