Louisiana welcomes Plein Air Painting event
Artists will be flocking to Louisiana Missouri on Sept. 13 for the third annual Golden Hills of Louisiana Plein Air Painting Event.
After a fantastic second event of unparalleled success last year, this year promises to be even better.
Visual artists from third states participated in last years event to paint “en plein air” the hills, valleys, buildings and people in and around Louisiana.
“En Plein Air” is a French expression which means “in the open air” and is generally used to describe the act of painting outdoors.
The day-long event will be topped off with an exhibition and sale of the artist’s paintings and other art works completed previously that will be held at the Masonic Temple on Georgia and 7th Street from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
This exhibition and reception is free and open to the public.
Residents from around the Midwest region are encouraged to attend this wonderful event, watch the artists in action painting around the town and view and purchase their work that evening. The viewing public will also have a chance to vote on the “People’s Choice” awards at the evening reception and show.
Artists works will be judged for cash prizes for First, Second, and Third place, as well as having the opportunity to sell their work.
This show is unique with “Purchase Patrons” having made pledges of funding with which to purchase works by the artists.
The process allows the “Purchase Patrons” first choice in buying the artwork guaranteeing them the most desirable works.
Last year’s “Golden Hills of Louisiana MO” event had guaranteed “Purchase Patrons” topping $2200.
As an art collector, patrons will want to sign up and make a pledge to become a “Purchase Patron” to have your chance to obtain great art directly from the artist.
Please contact Martha Weston at firstname.lastname@example.org or Karen Stoeckley at email@example.com to obtain more information and participate as a Purchase Patron.
For those interested in participating as an artist, additional information can be obtained from the website www.goldenhillsplainair.com.
Artists of all levels of proficiency are welcome.
This year the Louisiana Garden Club will be hosting the Historical Home Tour on the same weekend, with many of the beautiful Victorian homes and buildings along Georgia Street available for viewing. Tickets for the tour can be purchased in advance by contacting Chuck or Eileen Hoffman at firstname.lastname@example.org or at the Golden Hills Plein Air registration booth the morning of Sept. 13.
