By Clint Graham, Elementary/Middle School Assistant Principal
The first two full weeks of the school year are already in the “books” and there are a lot of great things happening in both the middle school and elementary. It is great to see the staff and students working so hard to make this an outstanding year.
There is one program that has been put into place this school year that I wanted to touch upon and that is the addition of the Recovery Room.
The Recovery Room will be used by both the middle school and elementary. When a student is sent to the Recovery Room, they should use this time to analyze the behavior or choice he/she made, correct or propose solutions on how he/she will handle the situation differently in the future, and return to that class as soon as possible. It should be used to get the student back into class that same block whenever possible.
If you have any questions please contact Mr. Graham and he will be happy to discuss the Recovery Room process with you.
I also wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone for their patience as we work out the kinks with the afternoon bus routes.
We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused you or your family, but please understand that these changes had to be made because of student safety.
With the enrollment being up at the elementary school and the YMCA program in question, it has really overcrowded a few of the buses. Our ultimate goal is to keep your son/daughter safe and that is why the changes are being made.
The two buses that this has affected most are numbers 5 and 24. We have had to split these two routes up into shorter sections. The changes that were made allows these two buses to deliver their in-town routes, in which both buses are able to drop off approximately 20 students before returning to the elementary school to pick up the country routes.
By splitting up these two routes, it allows everyone to have a seat and eliminates our overcrowding issues. Once again, thank you for your patience and understanding.
Midterm grades will be sent home Sept. 18.
Oct. 13 at 8 a.m. is the 5K Run/Walk to help the family of Abbi Lucas.
