City to adopt new budget
Bowling Green city administrator Dan Lang reported that he has been working with the department heads from the city in formulating the preliminary budget for next year.
A budget work session will be scheduled with Mayor Jim Moore and the board of alderman to provide information and receive feedback from them.
The city hopes for the final budget to be adopted by the end of September. The 2012-2013 fiscal year begins Oct. 1.
In other financial news for the city, Land reported that he has been working with city treasurer Donna Colbert and a bonding company to discuss the refinancing of the city’s outstanding bonds.
A refunding would result in some significant savings for the city, Lang said. He said the matter is being pursued and will be brought before the board of alderman at an upcoming meeting.
