City to flush mains beginning Oct. 3

The City of Bowling Green is always concerned about providing for the safety of its citizens.  To meet this challenge, the City will be flushing its water mains beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

This flushing will continue until all of the mains have been completed.

The City of Bowling Green, consistent with regulations of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, utilizes ammonia in its water system as a disinfectant.

Every year the City temporarily converts to chlorine.  Chlorine is a powerful disinfectant which will scour and clean the mains to remove any remaining bacteria within the system.

Utilizing this process allows the City of Bowling Green to maintain its system of good-quality potable water.

During the period of disinfection customers may experience lower water pressure, discoloration and/or a slight odor.  If any discoloration occurs, flush the line until it is clear or contact Alliance Water Resources at (573) 324-2660.  The city apologizes for any inconvenience residents may experience during this disinfection process.
