“Real Voices-Real Choices” Conference was held at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Aug. 12-14.
This was three days of presentations, workshops, panels and activities of interest to individuals who receive mental health services and their families. The focus of the conference was on making our lives better by becoming more independent and taking action to ensure we have and improved quality of life.
The session Quentin was on was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, named “Movin On Up, Headed to Self-Determination” presented by Joy Pabst, Mary Gupton, Curtis Ash, Garrett Lawrence, Skippy Coffman, Amanda Sanders, Quentin Miller and Jodi Crockett.
In this presentation, self-advocates and professionals suggested a variety of tools that are available to help individuals move up to “Self-determination” land. The conference was put on by consumers for consumers.
Quentin is a self-advocate for self-directed services though the Department of Mental Health Services with the help of his family supporting him.
Quentin is also active in People’s First Clubs in Hannibal and Bowling Green and active in RAC at Hannibal Regional Center and the Community Living Skills day program in Bowling Green.
