Funeral services for Jerry Clinton Ray, 73, of Louisiana were held Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Bob Norvel officiated. Burial was at the Oak Ridge Cemetery near Elsberry. Mr. Ray passed away on Oct. 17, 2012 in Louisiana.
He was born on Oct. 13, 1939 in Elsberry to John Coleman and Ruth Callaway Ray. He married Jo Ann Reed on Aug. 30, 1958 in Troy and she survives.
He is also survived by three sons, Clinton Ray and wife, Lisa, of Louisiana, Tim Ray and wife, Tammy, of Louisiana, and Brian Ray and companion, Christina Windmiller, of Louisiana; a daughter, Diane Redd and husband, Ronnie, of Clarksville; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two aunts, Dottie Stewart and husband, Gene, of Elsberry and Helen Hunter and husband, Tom, of Elsberry; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a sister in-law, Rosie Adams and husband, Alvin, Jr. of Eolia.
He graduated from Elsberry High School in 1957. He had been employed as an operating engineer with Local 513 of St. Louis until his retirement in 2002.
Honorary pallbearers were John Ray, Tramaine Chatman, and Paxtin Redd. Active pallbearers were Byron Ray, Tanner Ray, Anthony Redd, Matthew Redd, Adam Stewart, and Jared Stewart.
