Bowling Green’s bobcat varsity football team was defeated at Central High School in Park Hills this past Friday night. The game closed with a final score of 60-7.
“It was a tough game against a tough team. They were hands down bigger, faster and stronger than we were. We had a tough time handling them up front and that makes it hard to win. They probably have twice as many kids on their team and were able to platoon offenses and defenses and they just wore us out with their running game,” explained head football Coach Jeff Gschwender. “They had over 300 yards rushing, and obviously, we just couldn’t stop it. Again, our tackling wasn’t the best and against a very good 3A football team, you have to do everything right to pull out a win. I thought it was a learning experience for the kids and it shows them what hard work in the weight room can do for a football team, because it was obvious that the Central R-3 Rebels spend a lot of their off seasons in the weight room.”
Hopefully the team will be able to fully dedicate themselves in practice this week as they prepare to take on the Van-Far Indians this Friday night in Vandalia for the first round of districts.
