Hattie Louise Bass

Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Louise Bass, 84, of Bowling Green, were held Friday, Nov. 23,  at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana.The Rev. Randall Cone officiated.

Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana.

Mrs. Bass passed away Sunday, Nov. 18, at her daughter’s home in Columbia, Mo.

She was born Feb. 29, 1928 in Calumet Township, close to Clarksville, the daughter of William Henry Woodward and Mary R. Dietzman Woodward.

She married Albert Edward Bass Feb. 9, 1946, at the Elmwood Presbyterian Church in Louisiana and he preceded her in death June 2, 2001.

She is survived by one daughter, Ms. Shirley Cornelison of Columbia; a son, Edward Wayne Bass of Iowa state, Four granddaughters, Christina Cornelison of Raytown, Cortne Maxwell of Mexico, Julie Fiers of St. Louis, and Stacy Bass of Iowa state, two grandsons; James Bass and Cody Bass both of Iowa state, five great granddaughters, Brianna Lay of Mexico, Libby Rowland and Hannah Rowland both of St. Louis, Alyssa Cornelison of Raytown, and Kendal Hilderman of Mexico, Seven great grandsons; T. J. Bass of Iowa state, Ethan Hilderman of Mexico, Tyler Cornelison of Raytown, Kaden Bass, Koltyn Bass, Noah Bass and Sawyer Bass all of Iowa state.  Two brothers, William Woodward of Louisiana, and John Woodward of Frankford, and one sister, Julia Johnson of Bowling Green.

She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, Charles Woodward, Clarence Woodward, Homer Woodward, Marion Woodward, George Woodward, Thomas Woodward and Harry Woodward who died in infancy and one sister, Bessie Guinn.

Hattie had worked at the Wells-Lamont Glove Factory in Louisiana for a few years. She later was employed in the mail department at Stark Bro’s Nursery for 17 years before retiring.

Honorary pallbearers were David Matteson, Bill Johnson, Bob Martin, John Woodward and William Woodward. Active pallbearers were Chuck Tophinke, Floyd Dale Woodward, Mike Moeller, Richard Bass, Jerry Woodward and David Fiers.
