Funeral services for Mrs. Fern McMahill, 94, of Louisiana, were held Saturday, Dec. 8, at Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Jeannie Webdell officiated.
Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana. Mrs. McMahill passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 at the Lynn’s Heritage House in Louisiana.
She was born June 15, 1918 in Hanson, Idaho, the daughter of, Joel Robert Houchins and Fay Ward Houchins.
She married Randall Dixon White in 1938 and to this union one son was born. She married Gentry Washington McMahill Feb. 3, 1945 at the Baptist Rectory in Bowling Green, and he preceded her in death March 1, 1995.
She is survived by four sons;, C. Dale McMahill and wife, Doris of O’Fallon, Larry E. White and wife, Carolyn of Louisiana, Gentry W. McMahill and wife, Susie of Louisiana, and Joel R. McMahill of Shanghai, China; five grandsons; Kevin McMahill of Clarksville, Michael McMahill of Town and Country, Chris McMahill of Huntsville, Ala., Joel R. McMahill of Colona, Ill., and Joshua R. McMahill of Montgomery, Ill.; two granddaughters, Carla Starkey of Louisiana and Jennifer Shepherd of St. Peters; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Whitney McMahill and Patrick McMahill; and one brother, Vivian Houchins.
She graduated from the Clarksville High School.
Mrs. McMahill had been employed as a cook for the Louisiana Elementary School until her retirement.
Mrs. McMahill was a member of the First Baptist Church in Louisiana and a member of the Pike-Lincoln Quilters Club.
Pallbearers were Joel McMahill, Josh McMahill, Kevin McMahill, Dale Jordan, Robert Minor and Jim Wood.
