Fifteen members of the Haw Creek Friendly Neighbors Club arrived at the Frankford Presbyterian Church for their annual Christmas meeting. Myrna Schuette and Dorothy McCarthy were the hostesses.
The tables were decorated with Christmas music boxes, Santa Claus, snowmen, etc., candy, nuts and poinsettias.
Poinsettias were given for door prizes.
Named Christmas bags were waiting to be filled with cards, gifts, and cookies goodies.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without the manger, Holy Family, Christmas tree and Christmas music.
Schuette gave the noon blessing. The ladies and little Hayden Buchanan enjoyed the Christmas feast.
President Frankie Epperson called the meeting to order with the pledges and roll call: ‘Have you ever re-gifted or received a re-gifted gift?
Secretary Schuette read the minutes and Brenda Cook gave the treasury report. Committee reports were given.
Epperson was congratulated as her term of office ended.
Suggestions for 2013 tours were presented by Diane Miller and Louise Miller.
A Christmas skit: “HMMMM, Christmas Joy’? Written by Priscilla Greig was presented by Pauline Gibbs, Schuette and McCarthy. John 9:5 as the basis: Jesus says, “While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” The game: “Senior Trivia” was played. Everyone was a winner as they pulled a number from a bag and received one of the table decorations.
Louise Miller led the group in singing four Christmas songs.
Secret pals were revealed as they opened their gifts.
Others attending were Dorothy Adams, Nannie Elder, Leah Epperson and baby granddaughter, Isabel, Dorothy Flowers, Pam Hendrell, Lola Jennings, Maxine Macaulay and Roxie McMillen.
The next meeting at the church will be a potluck lunch on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2013.
