As a culmination to their World History class study of the Middle Ages, the Bowling Green High School sophomore class presented a Renaissance Faire in the school auditorium Friday, Dec. 14. The Faire serves as the students’ final for the course.

“The sophomores have been working very hard the last couple of weeks on their Medieval Faire Project. All the sophomores are required to create a craft project and develop a character from the Middle Age,” said course teacher Virginia Ream. “Through this project the goal was for the students to experience history first hand and develop an appreciation for where we have come.”

The students’ work acclimates when they have to put on a Medieval Faire, displaying all of their work including individual projects, informational booths, exhibits, entertainment, and food. The students are also required to dress the part.

“The kids have done a great job and have gone above and beyond the expectations of the assignment,” Ream noted.

During the Faire, the class presented the king and queen, who were responsible for “knighting” students who exemplify honor, generosity, and courteousness.

The students who created trebuchets also were given the chance to see how well they worked.
