Edward “Jack” Colbert

Funeral services for Mr. Edward H. “Jack” Colbert, 91, of Louisiana, were held Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Randall Cone officiated. Burial was in the Auburn Cemetery near Silex.

Mr. Colbert passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at the St. Joseph Health Care Center in St. Charles.

He was born June 4, 1921 in Whiteside, the son of John and Ethel Achor Colbert.

He married Elba Julia Rangel Dec. 22, 1965 in Guadalajara, Mexico and she survives. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Matalie Colbert and Ruby Bobeen; and three brothers, William “Butch” Colbert, John “Tom” Colbert and Cecil “Pep” Colbert.

Jack had farmed in the Silex area for a number of years. He was later employed by H.A. Daily Construction Company in St. Louis, retiring in 1978.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Whiteside.

Jack loved hunting and fishing and going to blue grass music festivals in his spare time.

Honorary pallbearers were Alfred Colbert, Scott Colbert, Steve Colbert, Justin Colbert, Shelby Colbert, Thomas Hutchings, Bob Devoto and Tim Fry. Active pallbearers were Billy Joe Colbert, Randy Colbert, John Zerrer, Jerry Colbert, Mark Wilson and Larry Miller.
