Edwin Joseph McManus, 82, of Hannibal, passed away Jan. 12, 2013, at Luther Manor in Hannibal.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Father Lou Dorn officiating. Burial will be in the St. Clement Cemetery. Military grave-side rites were conducted by the United States Marine Corps. Visitation was held at the funeral home Tuesday from 1 to 2 p.m.
Mr. McManus was born Feb. 23, 1930 in Norwich, Conn., the son of Frank James and Helen M. Fitzgerald McManus. On July 27, 1957 he married Bernice Colbert in Millwood. She preceded him in death on May 9, 2007.
He is survived by two sons, Mark McManus of Hannibal, and David McManus (Caryn) of Kansas City; one daughter Jeannie Kijowski (John) of Chesterfield; two grandchildren Amber Harkleroad and Brittany McManus; and one great grandchild Michael Harkleroad; one brother Raymond S McManus and one sister Helen E. Fatone, both from the state of Connecticut.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice; two sisters Eileen A McManus and Mary A Burr; and one brother Donald F. McManus.
Ed was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps for 24 years, retiring as a Gunnery Sergeant. Ed (Mac) served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Ed liked watching The Fighting Irish play football on Saturdays and enjoyed coaching Khoury League baseball for many years. Ed was also an avid bowler. He worked for Morton Buildings in Bowling Green, Underwood Co. in Hannibal and Louisiana Manufact-uring.
Serving as pallbearers were David McManus, Mark McManus, John Kijowski, Tommy Moss, Marty Moss, Bill Prior, Earl McPike, and Mike Yanczer. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans and the Military Honor Flight Program.
