Funeral services for Robert L. “Buddy” Martin, 79, of Louisiana will be held at 11 a.m., today, Wednesday, Feb. 13 at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. The Rev. Charles Moore will officiate.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery in Louisiana. Buddy passed away Monday, Feb. 11 at the Maple Grove Lodge Nursing Home in Louisiana.

He was born Nov. 27, 1933 in Louisiana, the son of Clifford Robert Martin and Bessie Ahearn Martin.

He married Phyllis Darlene Woods, May 28, 1960 in Louisiana and she preceded him in death June 15, 2006.

He is survived by one son, Robert W. Martin and wife, Mary; a daughter, Sherry Ewers and husband, Bill, all of Louisiana; five grandchildren, Amber Steelman and husband Norman, Jr. of Mexico, Sarah Tipton of Louisiana, Kelly Martin, Tony Martin and Nicole Martin all of Louisiana; three great-grandchildren, Darien Griffin and Randy Elder both of Louisiana, and Trey Steelman of Mexico; three sisters, Dorthy White, Holly Peterson and Clarita McGreevy all of Louisiana; and nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; a brother, Bliss Martin; and three sister, Louise Callaway, June Betts, and Patricia Martin who died in infancy.

Buddy had been employed as a crane operator for Valley Steel in Louisiana for 30 years. He was later employed at Collier Funeral Home and then for the Louisiana school system where he was employed for over 27 years.

In his pastime he loved to dance and work in his garden. But most of all he loved being with his family.

Honorary pallbearers are Bernie Charlton, John Shade, John Dillender, Rudy Bell, Tom Wallace and John Wood. Active pallbearers are Jim Ingram, George Norvell, Matt Smith, Galen Johnson, Donnie Stewart and Mike Lawson.

Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society in care of Collier Funeral Homes, Inc., 117 Barnard Dr., Louisiana, Mo. 63353.
