BGFD purchases new fire truck

Bowling Green recently purchased a 2001 custom-pumper fire truck, which was a trade-in from the St. Charles Fire Department. This truck is to serve as a replacement for a vehicle that was in service for more than 20 years. This particular truck has the capabilities to pump over 1,200 gallons of water per minute.

This truck was purchased through a long term and low interest loan from the USDA, Rural Development. The $65,000 pumper will be paid for over a financing period of 10 years. By comparison, the fire truck bought by St. Charles after trading-in this truck cost their city over $500,000.
